Where to Find the Best Late Night Mexican Food in Syracuse

When you think of Syracuse, New York, tacos and late night Mexican food in Syracuse probably are not the first things that come to mind, but if you’re craving a satisfying bite after most kitchens have closed, XO Taco on East Fayette Street is a solid bet. Whether you’re looking for flavorful tacos, a lively atmosphere, or a dependable late-night option in the city, this spot consistently delivers.
Stay for a while or grab it to go. Takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery are all available. The restaurant itself is a full-on vibe and makes for an easy Instagram moment thanks to its bold green wall, funky hanging lights, and gold-capped grill decor. Pair that with a great playlist and drinks, and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger longer than planned. Late night Mexican food in Syracuse can be surprisingly hard to find, especially after 10 PM, which is why knowing where to go makes all the difference.

A Menu With Something for Everyone
The ambiance draws you in, and then the menu takes over. XO Taco offers a wide range of options, including dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan choices, so no taco lover is left out. Fire emojis on the menu point out which dishes are extra spicy for those who like a little heat. If that’s not enough, XO Taco also offers three house-made hot sauces you can try to customize your spice level.
Some of my favorite tacos on the menu are the hot chix, lobster, Oaxacan beef, and crispy fish. I’m also a huge fan of the XO street corn, which comes coated in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos dust, queso fresco, chipotle crema, cilantro, and lime. I’m not drooling, you are.
Planning tip: I know that late-night Mexican food in Syracuse is the goal, but trust me, you’ll want to start with an order of warm tortilla chips and guacamole or queso for the table. It’s some of the best guac and queso I’ve had in Syracuse.

Cocktails Worth Planning Your Visit Around
Late-night Mexican food in Syracuse isn’t a complete experience without a great cocktail, and the drinks at XO Taco are just as fun and flavorful as the food. On Cinco de Mayo, the Volcán de Mi Tierra house margarita pouches are the move. Each pouch holds the equivalent of three XO Taco margaritas and is only available for Cinco de Drinko, so it is worth planning ahead. Any other day of the year, I recommend the frozen margaritas or the frosé, especially on Fridays when they are just $5 and make for an easy start to the weekend.
Planning tip: Visit XO Taco with a group that does not mind sharing and splitting the tab. The food is served family style, and most tables order a mix of tacos to share. It is more fun that way and lets you try more of the menu in one sitting.

An Atmosphere Worth Photographing
As you wait for your food and before the table fills up, take a moment to look around and snap a few photos. XO Taco’s bold design details make it easy to capture great shots without much effort. From the vibrant green wall to the hanging lights and playful decor throughout the space, there are plenty of spots that work well for photos and casual content.
If you are planning to take pictures, arriving earlier in the evening makes it easier to enjoy the space before it gets busy.

When to Go for the Best Deals
If you want to make the most of your visit, timing matters. XO Taco runs weekly specials that make it even easier to stop by, whether you are going for food, drinks, or both.
Taco Tuesday: $1 off tacos and half off single margaritas all day
Wednesday: $8 Howlito burritos and half off wine all day
Thursday: Half off beer all day
Friday: $5 frozen margaritas or frosé and four dollar fish tacos all day
Once the food and drinks hit the table, it is easy to settle in and enjoy the experience without overthinking it. To see the vibe, the menu, and the atmosphere in action, watch the video below for a closer look at what makes XO Taco such a fun spot in Syracuse.
